MANIFIESTO

My commitment with artistic creation consists of observing the world, nature and myself, finding small details and highlighting them, reflecting and presenting ideas through the production itself. I work with different materials, modifying and transforming them until they acquire meaning, strength and sentimental charge; until they manage to communicate what I mean to say. I think that a work should be a friendly object, which we make an accomplice, that expresses us or questions us with its mere presence.

La Frontera, Encounters Along the Border 2023

"3185cm cristalizacion"
How much does a teardrop weight?
how much time can they last without disappearing?
what about if they are many?..
This pieces are made to commemorate 10 years of "la Frontera" first exhibition, the idea hasn´t change much, they are made of 3,185cm (same as the border in km.) silk thread covered with knots that remain each person who tried, it´s red color has fade away giving place to thousands maybe millions of mini crystalized tears from persons that buried them dreams of a better future at the border, leaving them familys and country, and form all who remained waiting for their return that will never happen.

"el peso de 318"

The weight of 3185
This piece is a silk thread full of small knots that measures 3185cm, referring to the measurement in km.of Mexico and United States border. Its original color has faded by the passage of time and leaves room for small crystals that slowly grow until they become large, solid stones that speak to us of crystalized tears and weight left by the absences of those who could not cross or those who managed to cross but never returned.

"3185 en mi corazon"

To commemorate 10 years since the first exhibition of "La Frontera, Encounters Along the Border" a series of parallel exhibitions are held in both countries for which we were invited to make a series of new pieces on this topic.

The Mexican border with the United States measures 3,185 km, thousands of kilometers are dented by death and injustice, by buried dreams; The 3185cm necklace is a kind of mantra made up of thousands of knots reminding people who buried their illusions along those kilometers. After 10 years nothing has changed, or maybe just the total death toll.
These pieces, faded by the passage of time, are covered with crystals that tell us about those people and the many who remained waiting for their return, about all the crystallized tears and people they left behind.
